The position is full-time with excellent benefits.
Craig is a small
community in Northwestern Colorado offering unlimited outdoor

We are seeking

and Community Policing environment.
Must be 21 yrs. H.S./GED.
Must be Colorado P.O.S.T. certified or certifiable.

As a Craig Police
Officer, you will be joining a unique team of law enforcement officers
who are dedicated to the philosophy and practices of Community
Oriented Policing. In addition to traditional patrol duties, you will
be challenged to actively interact with the public to identify and
solve problems with the goal of improving the quality of life in the
community.
Throughout your
career as a Craig Police Officer, you may have the opportunity to
serve in a variety of law enforcement positions, including: Field
Training Officer; Detective; Bike Patrol Officer; Drug Task Force
Officer; or School Resource Officer working closely with the
school-age youth, offering encouragement and education.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
The Craig Police
Department offers competitive salaries for police officers.
2008 Salary: The
proposed 2008 Salary is $3,499 monthly ($41,982 annually). The top
salary for patrol officers will be $4,477 monthly ($53,724 annually).
In
addition, educational incentives are offered for college degrees, as
well as assignment pay for certain positions. Fringe benefits include:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum
of 21 years of age
- High
School Diploma or equivalent (Some college helpful)
- Current
valid driver's license (Eligible for Colorado driver's license)
- Good
moral character (Past criminal activity and drug usage may be
disqualifying)
- Colorado
Law Enforcement P.O.S.T. certified or certifiable
- Have no
felony or domestic violence convictions.
Colorado Peace Officer
Certification (P.O.S.T. Certification)
Peace officer
certification is obtained by attending a basic training academy and
passing the state certification exam. There are several private
academies and community colleges offering training. Academy training
includes a minimum of 435 hours of academic and skills training.
Persons who are
certified peace officers in other states may be eligible to receive
certification in Colorado without completing a full basic academy.
This requires successful completion of the certification examination
and meeting P.O.S.T. standards for skills training.
To be eligible to
apply for a police officer position, applicants must have current
certification, or a scheduled certification test date. An offer of
employment will not be made until basic certification is received.
The Colorado Peace
Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Board is responsible for
issuance of certification.
